Events Need Volunteer Chairs
To make these trials a success, the club relies on volunteers to chair and lend a hand. Contact us to volunteer.
Trials We hold approximately six (6) trial events annually.
These events provide the membership with an opportunity to spend a weekend with family and friends in the cooler parts of Arizona.
Each trial is broken into four classes of dogs based on ability and handler preference.
- Hunter Junior – Training format for young puppies to work individually.
- Hunter Senior – Geared for up and coming dogs. No strict restrictions nor stringent scoring rules.
- Shooting Dog – Dogs are judged/scored based on ability to find birds, steadiness, and retrieving work. Collars are permitted.
- Gun Dog – Dogs are judged/scored based on ability to find birds, steadiness, and retrieving work without the use of collars.
During these events, members are able to evaluate the level of their dog’s training and receive mentorship from more experienced members.
The potluck dinner held on Saturday of each trial gives everyone the opportunity to socialize and form new friendships.

Training Seminars
The AZPDC’s primary focus is on helping the amateur handler learn how to train and handle their dog in order to enhance their enjoyment of the sport. This goal has been instrumental in the club’s growth from nine (9) members in 1982 to well over a one hundred current, active members.
Training seminars are a perfect place to learn different techniques. Seeking advice from experienced handlers and trainers will undoubtedly provide new ideas of how to train your dog. As a wise handler once said, “it’s never the dog’s fault”.

Fun Hunts
Each spring and fall on either end of the trial season, the club holds a fun hunt. These have included different game species, rules, formats, awards, etc. Check in with our events calendar to see what this year has in store!!!
